1958 Ford Sunliner Convertible - SOLD

We are sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very hard to find, 1958 Ford Sunliner Convertible, blue and white 332 Interceptor three speed, over drive, power steering, manual brakes, windows and seat. This car is very complete with the only convertible part missing is the top switch. It looks like it was replaced at one time with just a toggle switch. The top bows in this car are in excellent condition. None are broken or bent and the header is rust free and is one of the nicest set of top bows I have seen. It has your typical ‘58 Ford rust in the rockers, lower quarters, top of the fenders and since it is a Convertible, it will need floor pans. I am sure the front and rear are bad, but it still has the correct blue rubber mat. The trunk is very solid but the spare tire well is rusty on the bottom and will need repaired or replaced. I am sure also some of the floor braces will need repaired. The car is pretty straight, but has some damage on the driver’s front fender. It could be straighten or just replace the fender. Also some damage on the quarter panel but is minor plus some other small dents on the car. The car has had some very amateur body work and paint done and you can see some body filler around the rear wheels and rockers, but will need replaced. It has a very solid frame and the radiator saddle looks rust free. The inner fenders, since this is a Colorado car, are not pitted like you find back east. This car had a 1969 Colorado plate on it when I bought it, and I have known of the car since the early 1980s, so I am sure it has spent most of its life around here. The old guy had it in a garage for years and then moved it outside, but kept it covered with tarps. All the trim, bumpers, stainless, pot metal, gold trim will need plated or polished and or replaced, some of the trim has screw holes on it, and some is bent. The pot metal on the vent wings, quarter frames, top latches, top pins etc., is very nice, and will re-plate fine. It has all the glass (one quarter window is broken.) The windshield is not broken but has wiper marks on it. The motor does not turn through, and the few things missing include the fan, carburetor, front grill bar, radio which are all easy things to come up with. This is a very restorable car and I have started with cars that were a lot worse than this one, or not complete. If you have a sedan for parts this car would be a good one to restore. The car has a clear title and I have described this car as accurately as I can. The car is sold as is, so if you are not looking for a car that needs full restoration, please do not buy. The car can be stored at my place until you can make arrangements for pickup, at no charge. I also can help load the car.
